How FairShare works
Three steps between you and everyone being square.
Create a group & invite people
Every group starts with a name, an icon and a default currency. Then invite the people you share money with — roommates, friends on a trip, a work team.
Invites work the way you'd expect
- Invite by email — registered or not
- Invited people accept before joining (no auto-adds)
- Admins can remove pending invitations
- Pick who can add expenses and record payments
Add expenses as they happen
Who paid, how much, and how to split it. Equal split is the default; custom amounts work too. Each expense keeps its own currency.
- Equal split: everyone (including the payer) owes their share
- Custom split: set exact amounts per person
- Late joiners are included automatically — shares recompute
- PEN, USD, CAD or EUR per expense, no conversions
See balances, per currency
FairShare sums up every expense and shows exactly what each person owes, in each currency. No currency is ever converted into another.
- “You owe” / “You are owed” cards per currency
- Per-member balance list
- Balances update the moment an expense is added
- Totals stay consistent even in multi-currency groups
Record payments & settle up
When someone actually pays someone back, record it. Payments reduce the balance between two members and FairShare suggests the fewest transfers to settle the group.
- Record who paid, who received, amount and currency
- Optional “how was it paid?” — cash, bank transfer, Yape, Zelle…
- Payments are deletable by the recorder or an admin
- Settle-up suggestions per currency
